Inspired by a vintage Levi's 507XX Type II denim jacket from the early 1950s, FOB Factory has carefully recreated this iconic piece, with some asserting it even outshines the original released by Levi's in 1953. Made from 14oz original denim woven on the esteemed Toyoda G3 shuttle loom using Supima cotton, this jacket combines durability with comfort. Supima cotton is celebrated for its unparalleled softness, strength, and glossy finish, making this jacket an essential item for denim aficionados.

The Toyoda G3 loom, which has been around for over half a century, is a rare machine capable of producing uniquely textured denim with consistent yarn and durability. Due to its low productivity—only 5 metres of fabric per hour—and the difficulty in sourcing replacement parts, maintenance is challenging. Nevertheless, select Japanese brands continue to honour the legacy of the G3 loom by creating high-quality original denim with a distinct texture.

This jacket is equipped with premium features, including custom-engraved iron buttons that enhance its retro charm.

While it retains the classic Type II fit with ample room for layering, the jacket has a slightly longer length and tapered sleeves. It also includes adjustable waist cinches complete with button tabs.

Although this is a Japanese-made jacket, we find that the sizing of this Type II is more aligned with Western measurements. If you typically wear a size L in American jackets, size 42 (L) will be an ideal fit. However, we always advise checking our size chart to ensure the best fit. The jacket is unsanforized but has undergone one wash, guaranteeing no further shrinkage.
